NEAL ROOFING · MATERIALS & SUPPLY
Roofing Materials & Suppliers
Roof performance depends upon more than workmanship alone. Material selection, compatibility, provenance, fixing, detailing and manufacturer requirements all contribute to the performance and service life of a completed roof.
Neal Roofing works with established roofing manufacturers, specialist merchants and material suppliers, while reclaimed and surplus materials can also provide an important source of compatible products for repair, heritage and refurbishment work.
MATERIAL SELECTION
Specified for the Roof, Not Simply Selected from a Catalogue
Decades of roofing work have exposed Neal Roofing to a broad range of roofing materials, manufacturers and construction systems.
That experience informs the products we specify and install today. Selection may depend upon roof pitch, exposure, existing construction, substrate, fixing requirements, moisture strategy, architectural character, material compatibility and the intended service life of the roof.
Traditional materials such as natural slate and rolled lead may require a very different approach from modern insulation, membranes, single-ply systems or architectural zinc.
Where compatible reclaimed material is appropriate, specialist reuse markets can also provide access to slate, tiles and other building materials that may no longer be readily available through conventional merchants.
Our main Roofing Materials guide explains these materials in greater technical detail, including their application, specification and relationship with the wider roof construction.

Selected Roofing Manufacturers & Suppliers
The manufacturers and suppliers below illustrate some of the established products and material sources encountered within our roofing work. Product selection remains project-specific and may vary according to specification, availability and technical requirements.
INSULATION
Kingspan Insulation
Insulation forms an important part of many roof refurbishment and replacement projects, particularly where thermal improvement is required as part of the proposed works.
Kingspan insulation products are among the established insulation systems that may be considered within our roofing specifications, subject to the required roof build-up, thermal performance and project-specific requirements.
Roof Insulation
ROOF WINDOWS
VELUX Roof Windows
Roof windows can introduce natural light and ventilation while becoming an important interface within the roof covering itself.
VELUX roof windows are widely used within pitched-roof construction. Correct product selection, positioning, flashing specification, insulation and integration with the surrounding roof covering are important to the completed installation.
Roofing Materials Guide
SINGLE-PLY ROOFING
Sarnafil
Single-ply membrane systems provide one solution for suitable flat and low-slope roofing applications.
Sarnafil systems may be considered where the roof design, substrate, detailing and project requirements suit a proprietary single-ply roofing solution. As with any flat roof, the complete build-up, falls, drainage, interfaces and detailing are as important as the membrane itself.

CLAY & CONCRETE ROOF TILES
Sandtoft · Wienerberger
Sandtoft roof tiles form part of the Wienerberger roofing range and provide clay and concrete tile options for a variety of pitched-roof applications.
Tile selection should take account of roof pitch, exposure, fixing specification, appearance, existing materials and the technical requirements of the individual roof.
Roof Tiling
ROLLED LEAD SHEET
Associated Lead Mills
Rolled lead sheet remains fundamental to traditional roofing and specialist weathering work, including flashings, valleys, gutters, abutments and complete lead roof coverings.
Associated Lead Mills supplies rolled lead sheet and associated lead products. Material specification must be considered alongside sheet size, code, substrate, movement, fixing and detailing appropriate to the application.
Our specialist leadwork service covers both traditional weatherings and more technically demanding lead roofing applications.

ARCHITECTURAL ZINC
elZinc
Architectural zinc provides a durable hard-metal solution for roof coverings, façades, dormers, gutters and contemporary architectural details.
elZinc produces rolled zinc products for roofing and cladding applications. Successful zinc roofing depends upon appropriate system selection together with careful consideration of substrate, ventilation, movement, junctions and detailing.

Source, Sell & Trade Reclaimed Building Materials
Reclaimed roofing and building materials can provide an important source of compatible products where projects require matching slate, roof tiles, architectural materials, traditional components or products that are difficult to obtain through conventional supply chains.
They can be particularly useful within heritage repair, alteration and refurbishment projects where appearance, dimensions, weathering and compatibility with existing construction are important.
The Reclaimed Company operates a marketplace for buying, selling and trading reclaimed, surplus and second-hand roofing and building materials.
The marketplace provides a route for contractors, merchants, demolition and salvage businesses, property owners and other material holders to offer usable materials to buyers looking for specific construction products.

RECLAIMED ROOFING MATERIALS
Matching Existing & Traditional Construction
Reclaimed material is not simply an aesthetic choice. On the right project it can provide access to roofing products whose size, profile, colour, texture or character is difficult to replicate using newly manufactured material.
Existing roof materials may also remain suitable for reuse following careful sorting and assessment during refurbishment work.
Material condition, suitability, quantity and compatibility should still be considered before reclaimed products are incorporated into a completed roof.

The Manufacturer Is Only Part of the Specification
A recognised product does not, by itself, create a successful roof.
Performance depends upon the suitability of the material for the particular building and its correct integration with the rest of the roof construction.
For substantial roofing work, consideration may extend beyond the principal covering to underlays, insulation, ventilation, battens, fixings, substrates, drainage, flashings, movement joints, penetrations and interfaces with adjoining construction.
The same principle applies to reclaimed products: provenance and appearance can be valuable, but condition, suitability and compatibility with the proposed construction remain essential.
This is why our material guidance is connected to our wider technical information on roofing standards and project planning.
